The general lack in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense rather puzzling, in one way or another.

In recent years, the region was a region where a lot of South Africans would travel to to flee from the considerably restricting standards on gambling (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. So, you may anticipate a picture of an expanding spot to serve that tourist sector.

But, perhaps it is not particularly an astonishment. The city is one of the most deficient worldwide, having gone through a gruesome civil war (followed by catastrophic floods) from which it is still, very slowly, rebounding. This tends to make a location way less of a tourist prospect, despite the fact that there is today a thriving setting along a number of the state’s attractive beaches.

It is also valid that regionally somewhat, Mozambique’s casinos have had to aspire with others in the recently liberalized South Africa, including the exemplary Sun City founded by the Kerzner family establishment.

Here is a list of Casinos in Mozambique:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are 78 slot machines and also video poker games, five tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, in addition 1 poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, and two tables for poker and also punto banco.

It is thought that over time the total tourism industry in Mozambique will progress greatly. While the local languages are, evidently, African, there is in addition the balance of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the innovative and expanding origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the worldly phenomenon. The country is considerably cheap (evidently, as it is really poor) and as above, has some of the most stunning beaches in the world, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the combination of elements that make tourism executives drool, and as the country climbs out of its prevailing slump, it is likely that not only will tourism develop, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer as well.

While the country is unlikely to ever reclaim its character as a location for partying South Africans, as there are now other selections closer to home for them to relish in, the expansion of a long distance tourism sector is being planned. This would be to cater to Europeans hopeful for winter sun, as a retreat from the dullness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. And, of course, the best prawns (shrimp) worldwide are just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
